The mood of the holiday is felt more and more. New Year's chores capture us, we prepare gifts, make up the menu for the festive table. But most importantly - you need to have time to sew the most beautiful outfit.

On air of the Fashion Sentence program, in the Fashion Studio section, the editor-in-chief of Burda magazine Marianna Makarova talked about how to sew a top with draped one-piece sleeves that resemble butterfly wings. The model is simple and light in execution, but it is very effective.

Training

First of all, you need to determine the size. In this case, the top of the top is quite loose, but at the waist and hips the model sits clearly in shape. Therefore, the main measure will be the circumference of the hips. Be sure to compare your size with the dimensions given in the Burda table. And if you find a difference, correct this discrepancy on a paper pattern.
Now you can cut out the details, there are only two of them: a shelf and a back. Sleeves in the model are one-piece. Next, transfer the pattern to the fabric.

The cloth

For Model 119 A from Burda 11/2015, softly draped knitted fabrics or fabrics with elastane are recommended. And this is no accident. As we already said, the top fits the figure well in the waist and hips, and to make it easy to put on and comfortable to wear, you need just such a fabric. In addition, the fabric must be thin, otherwise it will be difficult to make a drapery. She will be very dense and rough.We opted for satin silk with elastane, which we found in the Podium fabric store. The silk is of beautiful brick red color, which corresponds to the symbol of the coming year of the “Fiery Monkey”.

Festive top with one-piece sleeves

Sometimes it happens that we learn about the planned New Year's party in a couple of days. And then the panic begins. In a similar situation, our top is a real lifesaver. Sewing it is very easy. Even if you do not have professional sewing skills, you can handle this model quite quickly and without problems. For knitwear you only need an overlock. For silk fabric with elastane - a sewing machine. One, a maximum of two evenings and a spectacular new thing is ready! The secret of this model is in the wings, which create a beautiful drapery and wide one-piece sleeves, which easily and gracefully fall, resembling the wings of a butterfly. In this top you can safely go to visit, and to a restaurant, and to a party.

Alexander Vasiliev makes a short excursion into the history of the costume and compares our top with the Greek tunic. Chiton - a kind of shirt from the ancient Greeks, knee-length, which was sewn from a rectangular piece of fabric. The tunic was cleaved on the shoulders with buckles and girdled with a small sling.
