The Beaumarchais hero flaunted in a flirty short jacket, which was destined to go down in fashion history.

Initially, a laconic, but very flirty jacket (vest, jacket) with decorated shoulders, usually without a collar, was part of the Spanish men's suit. And if not for the “Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro” by the great Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, the fashion world would hardly have met her so closely.

At the end of the 19th century, ladies (of course, the first French women) became interested in this wardrobe item, called the novelty “Figaro” - after the famous Seville barber — and began to wear short collarless jackets over dresses and blouses.

Some at the same time looked fervent and attractive, others only spoiled their appearance. Because, as the fashion magazine of that time rightly wrote, "This thing is rather dangerous for ladies having a somewhat complete addition".

In modern figaro models, the collar is still mostly absent, and if there is one, it is certainly decorated with rich decor. These jackets are mostly worn by women and children, complementing dresses, skirts and tight trousers. Sometimes figaro is also found in men's themed costumes. Jackets are sewn from a wide variety of materials - from light cotton to leather and suede.

Figaro is usually supplemented with beautiful shoes and accessories. Although this spectacular little thing itself gives chic, it can make the image frivolous or romantic. In summer, such a short jacket, bright and embroidered, will easily turn an ordinary dress into an evening one. A laconic version, on the contrary, will dampen the shine of the outfit so that you can go to work and not break plans for the evening.

Sport chic is a hit this summer. Figaro-jeans perfectly complements this look.

An ethnic-style figaro looks great when combined with a black "man's" outfit.

Our dictionary:

Figaro - the name of a short Spanish jacket, with a long sleeve, without a collar, a fitted silhouette, the length of which ends above the waist. As a rule, it does not have a fastener. A bright piece of clothing, like the character of Figaro, whose name this jacket received. With or without bright decor. In the modern sense, a product of this style is called a "bolero".
