Becoming involved in automotive history is worth a lot. Especially if this is the story of such a famous brand as Suzuki, or rather one of its most legendary models, the Vitara SUV.

The current year 2018 is anniversary for Suzuki Vitara - exactly 30 years ago the first car of this model rolled off the assembly line. In honor of the significant event, the company released a limited series of crossovers with unique features, only 30 pieces. Each car was assigned a serial number, and the 19th car was in our test. How does this historical artifact differ from the already familiar Vitara, of which there are many on Russian roads?

Aesthetics and practicality

The Vitara and in the basic version looks impressive, but the crossover of the special series looks dandy at all. White body color, black rims, additional plastic parts on the body and a spoiler - all these are attributes of the anniversary version. The beauty here is in the details, like the red trim inside the headlights and the emblems on the rear pillars. It’s like little things, but how the view is changing! Many of the elements inherent in Vitara 30 not only delight the eye, but also carry a functional load. For example, a plastic lining on the rear bumper will protect this same bumper from scratches when loading, and wide moldings on the doors will save from dents when faced with obstacles in the parking lot.

Beauty in the details

The cabin also added interesting details. The most noticeable of them is the Kanji watch, located, as usual, in the center of the dashboard. They have a very original dial, the numbers on which replaced the kanji characters used in Japanese writing. A kind of aesthetic and unobtrusive reminder of where the car comes from. There are other, less noticeable nuances of the decoration of anniversary cars. For example, some plastic parts are coated with glossy varnish. On the right side of the panel is a unique nameplate with the serial number of a specific machine. Mention of the anniversary even on rugs! In general, this is a familiar and cozy Vitara salon - convenient and understandable. Ergonomics of the controls do not cause unnecessary questions, it is convenient to use multimedia with a very friendly interface. Soft chairs deserve special praise, equipped with powerful heating - in the conditions of a changing spring climate, it is extremely useful.

Confidence on the road

The special version is based on the all-wheel drive version of the Vitara with a 1.4 turbo engine, so the dynamics of the car are decent. The 140-horsepower engine responds quickly to pressing the accelerator pedal, and the automatic transmission does not spoil the impression. Despite the fact that the current Vitara is more of a city crossover than a harsh SUV, the car does not have problems with moving outside the asphalt. For special cases there is an off-road mode, which is activated by turning the "washer" on the central tunnel.

The anniversary Vitara is unique inside and out: special nameplates appeared on the rear pillars, and there are even reminders of the anniversary even on rugs.

The edging of the daytime running lights made of black plastic is another sign of a special version.
LED headlights have additional elements of red color.
A small but interesting detail is the plastic lining on the front wings.

The Kanji watch is one of the main "chips" of the special series, reminiscent of the Japanese origin of the legendary model.

Red stitching on the seats emphasizes the elegance of the interior, designed mainly in dark colors. And here there is an armrest for the driver and passenger with a roomy box.
The engine is started using the button.
The seats are very comfortable, they are easy to adjust, and the back does not get tired even on long trips. And the upholstery material is very pleasant to the touch.
The "multimedia" of the anniversary car is the same as that of conventional Vitara. She has her own "desktop", divided into 4 parts. The interface is simple, convenient and not addictive.
The spaces in front and rear are approximately equally divided.With a growth of 1.9 m, the passenger does not rest his feet against the back of the chair and does not touch the roof with his head. Three adults can sit on the second row.
Transmissions of the machine can be switched using convenient paddle shifters.

The instrument panel is informative - all the necessary readings are always before the eyes of the driver. The central display shows information about mileage, fuel consumption and other operating data.

Since the special version is, in fact, the top-end Vitara equipment, supplemented with options, there is also a rear view camera. And it is very convenient to use.
