Fashion vibrantly responded to these changes, especially since women gradually began to play an increasingly important role in society, mastering not only new professions, but also new sports. Restaurants and bars every night invited men and women to parties where everyone could dance until the fall to the sounds of Charleston.

Low waistline

Perhaps one of the most recognizable features of fashion of the 20s! The low waist was extremely popular, and the dress for almost any occasion, from a dance party to an ordinary home dress, could boast of a low waist.

The waistline could be lowered just a couple of centimeters, or almost to the middle of the thigh, and this is one of the most successful styles for a figure such as an Inverted Triangle and Rectangle, since such a cut can add volume to narrow hips to balance the shoulders, or adjust lack of a pronounced waist.

It should be noted that such a style initially began to be in demand also due to the special type of female appearance, which became popular in the 20s - a young tomboy girl with small breasts, short hair and without special curves of the figure. In the 20s, lovers of hats definitely had a place to take a walk - hats, tiaras, headbands, hairpins, which fashion shops and catalogs just didn't offer!
The cloche hat, in the shape of a bell, and a beret, was very popular. They were made from a wide variety of materials - from satin to straw!

The popularity of tennis and cycling, which became available to ladies, led to the fact that fashion magazines began to devote entire pages and sections for clothes that would be suitable for sports.
I must say that the idea of sportswear for women was somewhat different from what we would today consider a suitable outfit for sports. For example, the illustration above shows sports skirts.
