Using the model of a shirt dress from Burda 5/2019 as an example, consider how to strengthen the waist seam with a cotton ribbon.
The skirt of the dress 107 A consists of 4 panels, each of which must be picked up. It is also necessary to pick up the details of the bodice and the back along the waistline. And only after that you can grind the details together.
How to pick up fabric
Step 1
Pin the bodice of the dress to the upper section of the skirt with the front side to the front side, while combining the side seams and the mid-line.
Step 2
Stitch the waist by stitching between the sewing stitches.
Step 3
Cut the seam allowances to 1 cm wide and overcast together.
Step 4
To fix the waist seam, attach the cotton tape over the waist seam from the mid-front line on one shelf to the mid-front line on the other shelf.
On the other side of the allowances, lay the stitch exactly in the seam of the waist, securing the tape.
Step 5
Remove the stitching stitches.
Iron seam allowances up.
