This simple but effective and comfortable wrap can be sewn in a couple of hours. All details are in the master class and video.
Coat or suit soft, well-draped fabrics that do not crumble are suitable for a wrap.
Cardigan-cocoon without a pattern: master class
You will need:
- fabric for a cape;
- 3 buttons;
- scissors;
- tailor pins;
- a ruler (more convenient if it is long);
- crayon;
- sewing machine and thread.
How to sew a knit poncho
Step 1
The cape is sewn from two parts of shelves, details of a back plus details of a facing. In the diagram in both figures, the top line is the fold line of the fabric. You can make the cloak longer or shorter. This scheme is for a wide cape, you can make it a little narrower (but not much narrower, because otherwise it will be inconvenient: there are no openings for hands here).
Step 2
Draw the main part of the cape on a double folded fabric and cut it out without adding allowances for the seams. It will be a back. Using the cut out detail as a template, cut out the second one and cut it in half along the fold line of the fabric - these are the shelves.
Make notches to mark the side where the side seam will be.
Step 3
Chip off the details of the shelves and backs at the side seams and grind.
Step 4
Fold the cloak in half and use it as a template to outline the line of the neck of the grind.Next, outline the part to be trimmed according to the diagram from Step 1.
Cut the edge and cut it in front along the fold.
Step 5
Fold the cape and hem with the sides facing inward and pin with pins, aligning the edges.
Stitch in two steps, starting each line from the middle of the back. Cut corners.
Step 6
Unscrew the allowances on the side of the grind and stitch to the edge.
Step 7
Sew the short edges of the stitching to the shelves, cut the corners and twist.
Step 8
Tuck the bottom edge of the cap 1 time, iron and hem. Please note, if your fabric crumbles, it is worth processing the edge on an overlock or zigzag. The same applies to the free edges of the grinding.
Step 9
It remains to outline the location of the loops, sweep them and sew buttons.
