Picnic Basket: Workshop

In such a basket, it is good to carry fragile dishes, in particular glass glasses: they are firmly held by the mountings on the lid and will definitely remain intact.
You will need:
- a rectangular basket with a lid;
- superglue or other “fast” adhesive of increased strength
- wide elastic (if desired - bright color);
- a large button;
- scissors;
- a needle with a thread.
1. The first thing to do is to decide on the dishes and appliances that you will take with you in a picnic basket. In this case, these are glasses for champagne and sets of fork + knife. Prepare the dishes and appliances - exactly those and in the amount that you are going to fit in the basket, and lay them on the lid inside in the right order.

2. Wrap the glass / device with rubber and measure the required amount of elastic tape. She should clasp an object tightly, but not too much. Add a centimeter to the allowance and cut the tape into pieces.

3. Glue each piece of tape into the ring and leave to dry.

4. Glue the gum rings to the basket lid with the same glue. Check the “layout” of devices and utensils beforehand so as not to make a mistake.

5. Sew a button to the basket and a loop from the same elastic tape to the lid.

6. For fidelity, wait 24 hours before using the basket so that the glue adheres properly.

Paper picnic baskets: workshop

These baskets are quickly cut and folded from craft paper. You can make a small basket for each picnic participant - everyone will get treats equally.
You will need:
- craft paper;
- a sheet of white paper for stencil;
- Ruler and pencil;
- breadboard knife;
- mat mat.
1. Draw a template on the sheet and cut it with a breadboard knife.

2. Transfer the template to kraft paper as shown in the pictures.

3. Cut the workpiece basket with a breadboard knife using a ruler.

4. Fold the baskets as shown in the pictures. Done!

Summer picnic
A suitcase for a picnic from an old suitcase: a master class
The authors of this video workshop show how to turn a vintage suitcase into a classic picnic suitcase in a couple of hours. Bonus: at the end - a few recipes for lunch in nature.
You will need:
- an old suitcase;
- several unnecessary leather belts (you can find both in the commission room, as the authors of the video did, or at home on the mezzanine, in the country, and so on);
- cotton fabric for lining;
- scissors;
- hole punch for punching holes in the skin;
- durable quick-drying glue.

Waterproof picnic mat: workshop

The secret of this rug is to use it on one side of the waterproof fabric: you can use rubberized fabric, membrane, water-repellent impregnation, and so on. For the outside of the rug, choose a material that is pleasant to the touch (cotton fabric is good for hot summers; fleece or flannel are good for spring and autumn picnics).
You will need:
- two pieces of fabric of the same size (for the inner waterproof layer and for the outer one);
- a slanting inlay with a length equal to the perimeter of the future mat + allowances of about 1 cm;
- ruler, pattern, pencil or felt-tip pen for fabric;
- scissors;
- pins;
- sewing machine / overlock.
1. Mark the fabric: having decided on the size of the future rug, draw a pattern-rectangle directly on the fabric.

2. Cut a piece of carpet from one type of fabric.

3. Round the corners: use the pattern or just draw a rounded line on each corner of the future rug. Cut the corners with scissors.

4. The result was a finished piece of rug from one of the types of fabrics. Put the finished part on the second kind of fabric and duplicate the part: both parts of the mat should be the same size and shape.

5. Fold the parts of the mat with the sides facing out and sew along the entire perimeter on a typewriter or overlock.

6. Around the entire perimeter, process the edges of the mat with an oblique trim. Done.

Bag and rug 2-in-1: master class

This transforming mat easily folds into a bag in which you can bring picnic products to the park.
You will need:
- fabric for the rug (it should be enough on both sides of the rug, bag and handles);
- pencil or felt-tip pen for fabric and ruler;
- scissors;
- iron;
- sewing machine.
1. Draw on the fabric a detail of the future rug - a square. Cut out the part.

2. Turn the sides of the square twice, press and sew on the machine. The mat is ready.

3. Carry your bag. First determine its size: for this, fold the mat, measure the resulting square, add a couple of centimeters and get the dimensions of the bag where the mat will fit. Example: your finished mat has a size of 200x200 cm. When folded - 50x50 cm. The size of the side of the bag is 50 + 2 = 52 cm. Add a couple more centimeters to allowances, multiply by 2, we get the part for the bag 54x108 cm. Cut out the detail bags, folding, we process the upper edge and sew the side seams.

4. Sew the bag to one side of the mat with the edge.

5. We make a pen. To do this, cut out the part of the desired length and width twice as large as the width of the future handle. Fold the part along in half with the front side inward, sew, twist, straighten and iron.
